Vision Statement

As an educator I will create a classroom where students will explore a wide range of musical repertoire, developing both technical skills and artistic expression through collaborative music-making. Emphasizing individuality and creativity, we will foster an environment where students can build confidence, hone their independent skills, and communicate effectively through music. My classroom will be a supportive community, where both peers and teachers encourage one another, creating an atmosphere of growth, trust, and shared learning. As a teacher, I will guide students not only in their musical journey but also in cultivating life skills that extend beyond the classroom—empowering them to make lasting memories and positive impacts, both in music and in life.

Fundamentals of my Classroom:

1.Safe space for all identities and ideas

  • The classroom should be a place where everyone feels welcome and safe to be themselves.

  • Repertoire selection is a great opportunity for students to learn about a variety of cultures and music styles in a respectable and educational way.

2.Music Appreciation

  • Not every student will go on to be a performer or music educator but all students will leave the classroom with an appreciation for music making and musical expression.

3.Lifelong Skill Building

  • Most students will not continue making music beyond their public education therefore it is important that we are preparing them for a variety of futures by helping them to build lifelong skills within leadership, teamwork, and communication.

  • The music program should also be focused on giving students opportunities and memories that will last a lifetime.
